The Forking Spoonfan Wiki (Spoonman Fan Club)

Welcome to The Forking Spoonfan Wiki

Hey everyone, The Spoonman departed from his late night radio show Triple M in 2008. It was very sad news, but just because he no longer hosts that show doesn't mean you can't listen to it again, because we've got everything Spoonman related and it's right here for you.

But that's not all. If you have anything you want to contribute to this website, then grab an account by signing up on the bottom left and then submit some content. After approval by our team of editors and administrators it will be a part of the Forking Spoonfan Wiki. By signing up you can also join the Spoonfan Chat Room and leave comments on the articles.

Also The Spoonman is now back on Triple M (since August 24 2009) doing  news editorials and podcasts similar to the late night show he used to and you can access that all right here!
Spoony is now the producer for Jason Morrison's drive show on Sydney's 2UE (As of Monday 14th of January 2013) and the host of 2UE's "The Stir" each Sunday night from 6pm-8pm Sydney time.
Spoony is now the host of Triple M Hobart's Breakfast show (As of Monday 18th of November 2019) from 6am-9am Hobart time.

So Thank you for visiting and please enjoy what we have to offer to you.

A Quick Clip From The First Episode Of 'The Stir'

E-mail Print

Well it was GREAT to have Spoony back on air on 2UE last night! I know some people missed the first episode, so I thought that I'd share the opening segment from 'The Stir' on Sunday night as it set down a tone of what the show will be about. I've asked if there will be a podcast made of the show, so far I haven't heard back (my guess is, probably not right away). I obviously can't just post up full shows here each week (2UE wouldn't be too happy), so this is probably the only clip that you'll get on this site (at least while the show is on air anyway).

Confirmed: Spoony's BACK ON AIR At 2UE!

E-mail Print

It's been a big couple of months for Spoony news. Firstly he was sacked from Triple M. Then he announced he was quitting the media, then he suddenly got hired at 2UE to produce Jason Morrison's show and now some more exciting news.

This news has finally been confirmed on Twitter, so now I can say: SPOONY'S GETTING HIS OWN SHOW ON 2UE!!!!!! (I was tipped off to this about a week ago by a few sources, although they didn't have any specific details other than it would be a weekend show, but I had to stay quiet - sorry!)

Spoony hasn't actually written about this himself yet, but 2UE's Clinton Maynard and Paul Murray have both tweeted that he's starting his show on 2UE from next Sunday (Feb 3rd). The show will apparently be called "The Stir" and will air 6-8pm each Sunday on Sydney's 2UE. Currently that slot is occupied by Legal Matters, so I assume that show will either be moved or cancelled.

So yea, I'm pretty excited, as I know most of you will be! What would be super awesome is if Spoony's show was networked to 3AW and 4BC, but I doubt this will happen unfortunately. Another thing I guess we'll find out next Sunday is if he uses the name Spoonman or Brian Carlton on air!

Anyway, life is good again, Spoony's back Stiring up the news where he belongs, on the air! With 2013 being an election year, this should be very interesting indeed!

P.S, Thanks to Daniel for texting me, telling me to check Twitter ;)

Spoony Has A New Job.... In The Media?? Yes It's True!

E-mail Print

On Monday, Spoony tweeted that he was saying "goodbye to the media". By Thursday, Mumbrella.com.au was reporting that Spoony had signed on to be Jason Morrison's producer for his Drive show on Sydney station 2UE (954 AM).

So either Spoony was being sneaky on Monday, with his "goodbye to the media" tweet, possibly to put us off the scent that he was getting a job at 2UE or he was only offered the job on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, after he wrote that tweet (which is very possible, considering how 2UE seems to be rushing around at the last minute to sort out the gaps in their 2013 schedule, they only announced breakfast properly on Friday).

Regardless, it's great news: Spoony has a job again and it's in the media! I know many people are hoping that some day in the future, Spoony might return to the Mic with his own show (possibly at 2UE), but we can continue to dream again, knowing that his "goodbye to the media" lasted about as long as a Kardashian Wedding :P

Oh and finally: To those who contacted me today telling me I needed to add this information to the site: thank you! I was aware of the news, I just hadn't got around to updating it yet, but the fact people were onto me about this made me happy, because it shows that people are still visiting here for information :)

29 & Out. Spoony Exits The Media

E-mail Print

Well back in October, Spoony finished up at MMM. I was hoping that in 2013, he was going to end up at another radio station (I was actually hoping he was going to fill the vacant spot David Oldfield left at 2UE from 8pm-12am), but alas Spoony dropped this tweet into his feed at 8:13am (QLD time) this morning:

ByeMediaTweet

So yea, that's it. There's not much to say really other than "Thanks Spoony, and good luck with the future!". If any information pops up about what's he's doing next, i'll post it here, but if it's not a media job, it's very unlikely it will be something we can follow. He said he should be keeping his Twitter account, so do follow that @Spoonyman. The entire archive of Spoony things from MMM are located here on the site and I don't plan for them to go away, so go listen (especially ATFS, they're still great).
